These caves were discovered in 1905 by Don Pedro Caldentey santandreu when he was searching for Onyx semi precious stones. Dels Hams means hook to the Mallorcans. There are three types of caves that you will see when visiting. The round cave, the blue cave and the main cave. The caves are known worldwide due to beauty and diversity.
The History Museum is located in what was known as the Torre del Enagistes. In 1925 it was declare an historic-artistic monument. The museum has a collection of archeological ítems from the prehistoric, the Roman and the Islamic periods belonging to the history of Mallorca that were found in 1912 in the remains of the Basilic of Son Peretó where Monseñor Aguilo began his excavation and found talayotic items dating between 300 and 400 AC and pretalayotic dating 1800-1400 AC such as ceramics, bracelets, necklaces and bronze pieces. Other items shown have been found in the sea such as “peci dels motlles”. The museum also has an etnografic collection of miniature furniture.
The pearls vary in value depending mainly on the color, size, perfection, shine and brilliance. In the XIX century a person that owned pearls was considered rich and powerful. Due to the high cost of natural pearls and them being a much desired item, the pearls were created artificially so as to reach a much wider market. The origin of the Mallorcan pearls came by a German that had emigrated to France and worked in Paris in the production of artificial pearls. His name was Eduard Hugo Heusch. He came to Mallorca and decided to start his own factory which he called Majorica and is known now worldwide for the high quality of his pearls.
In 2016, an due to the success of Rafael Nadal, considered one of the best players on clay in the world, he decided to open an academy so as to push tennis as a sport, building the facility in his hometown in Mallorca, Manacor. The idea behind the academy is to combine tennis with education so that players can continue with their academic studies as well.
