The Maresme is a corner of the world that is half land and half sea. It is a slim area of land with small granite mountains that have been worked and enjoyed by their inhabitants. It is a historical area where potatoes have been cultivated, and then flowers and later vines for wine. Years later the fishing and leisure ports were built all along the coast of the area and since 1969 the Maresme was once again a pioneer place. From the beginning of the XX century the phenomenon known as “summering” (summer holidays) began converting later into an area of second homes for the Barcelona upper class and then the construction of large complexes, hotels and campings.
