The municipality of Santa Eugenia takes its name from the Alquería de Bernat de Santa Eugenia, a small medieval nucleus from the Islamic era known as Benibazari. It is 20kms2 and has a population of 1.562 (data from 2008). It has 4 nucleus of population: the Villa de Santa Eugenia, Ses Alqueries, Ses Olieries and Ses Coves. The natural park was inaugurated in 1998 with the idea of investigating and conserving nature. It is an open park where one can find autochthonous species of the island area and there is a great variety of mammals, reptiles and birds of the world.
