Porto Colom has been known by many names during the past centuries (XIV and XV)...Porto Columbo, Portocolubo Porto Colombi and Port Coloma. It is also thought that perhaps this fishing village had something to do with Christopher Columbus, but nothing has been proved in this aspect. This little fishing village has not lost its charm over the years and has a lovely port area with local fishing boats, yachts and speed boats taking priority over the waters. There are superb restaurants surrounding the port area and lovely town houses that give this area its character. A magnificent lighthouse takes pride over the entrance to the bay and there are natural fish-farms which provide fresh fish all year round
