 If we had to define Cala D‘Or in a few words I would describe as a "Mallorcan pearl". Throughout it‘s young life, Cala D‘Or has been developing on the south-east coast of Mallorca in the municipal area of Santanyi, consolidating itself as one of the best tourist destinations of the mediterranean. 70 years ago an architect/artist from Ibiza called D. Pep Costa, nick named "Picarol" imagined a small paradise of little whit houses surrounded by pine trees for his artist friends, painters and everybody who wished to be a little bit nearer to heaven ... And he bought the land that actually makes up Cala D‘Or, part of Cala Gran and Cala Llonga (now the harbour of Cala D‘Or). Today Cala D'Or has absorbed other coves like Cala Esmeralda, Calo D‘es Pou, Cala Galera, and Cala Egos of cristal clear waters converting itself in a compact area running from Porto Petro to Cala Serena, this last one belonging to the municipal of Felanitx. During all these years the municipality has respected the original architectural designs, white walls, flat roofs, arabian slats and it‘s pine trees helping to disguise as much from the sea as from the land the perfect union between nature and tourism. Due to the enchantment of Cala D'Or, neighbouring towns such as Cala Santanyi, Cala Llombards, Calonge, Alquería Blanca, the enchanting harbour of Porto Petro, Porto Colom (harbour of Felanitx) have also groun and country houses been reformed making an idilic place for peace, relaxation, and why not, investment.  A few kilometers from Porto Petro you will find the natural park of Cala Mondragó, beautiful because of it‘s 2 adjoining beaches Mondragó and S‘Amarador.
