The township of Campos is one of the driest areas of the island. It has a size of 14.783 hectars and occupies 4,11% of the total surface of the island. The neighbouring villages bordering on Campos are Porreres, Felanitx, Santanyi, Ses Salines and the Mediterranean Sea. Beside its agricultural richness and an important canning industry, actually the tourism gives employment to many people. In the historical centre the seven defence towers and the church of Sant Julia can be found and in the outskirts one of the oldest temples of Mallorca, the Oratorio de Sant Blai. Moreover there are beautiful beaches and two humid areas of great value where urbanizations have been developed like: Es Trenc, Es Salobrar and Sa Rapita. Campos is declared as a thermal borough because of the only hot spring of the island and moreover it has the second largest lagoon of the island named Es Salobrar.
Sa Rapita is the most important village settlement in the township of Campos with the best urbanizations, hotels and restaurants. It can count on one of the most frequented beaches of Campos, known as S’Arenal de Sa Rapita and moreover on the numerous garden areas and the Club Nautico.
The chapel of Sant Blai is one of the first churches built in Mallorca in the XVI century and is Gothic in style. Between 1989 and 1991 it was reformed and ornamental and archaeological aspects were recuperated. The “patio” that used to be a cemetery is now a garden with Mediterranean plants and flowers. The interior is one main room divided into 4 areas. The image of Christ was made by local carpenters in Palma and the fourth chapel on the right contains a Baroque image of Saint Domingo. Every 3rd of February, which is San Blas´s Saints day there is a mass and bread is blessed.
