The harbour of Porto Petro was used for the trade with stones from Santanyi and dry fruits. Later with the beginning of tourism the urbanization increased, at the beginning of the XIX century and in 1959 the tourism brought village settlement and the construction of the Hotel Nereida and the Club Mediterranée, which was transformed into the Blau Porto Petro Beach Spa Resort in the year 2004. The port of Porto Petro allows us to anchor quite free on the right handside of the entrance, even if there is a rocky ground. From there depart boats that make excursions to the Natural Park of Cabrera. In the surrounding you can find three beautiful beaches: Caló des Homos Morts, Caló de Sa Torre and Caló des Burguit. Porto Petro is a quiet village and very liked by resident people because of its high standard houses. At the beginning of the 20th century the area started to be parceled out and sold some plots, forming a small town with its church built in 1954. It is located near a picturesque and protected place called the Mondragó natural park, where Beautiful crystal clear waters, surrounded by nature.
